Remember never to use fabric softener or detergent containing softeners on any diaper, or they'll stop being
absorbent. The best detergents to use are those that contain no softeners, whiteners, brighteners, enzymes, bleach or
natural oils. We've found that Purex Free & Clear is one of the best detergents for washing cloth diapers in traditional
top-loaders, and you can find it almost anywhere!

You shouldn't get diaper rash cream directly on a Pod, as it will coat the DryTouch fleece on the Pod and keep it from
wicking. Luckily, as with all reusable diapers, babies get diaper rash only rarely with SoftBums! If you do need to use rash
cream, put something between baby's bottom and the Pod. You can use a washcloth, prefold, terry flat or even a
disposable liner. There are some rash creams that are made to be safe for reusable diapers, such as those offered by
Northern Essence. These are good products and we highly recommend them!

The SoftBums Echo is a 2-part system of waterproof Shells and removable Pods.
This allows incredible flexibility in how you configure your diaper! Because the
top layer is built into the Pod rather than the Shell (like a pocket diaper), you
can usually reuse the Shell again.
